Research center
A new building houses new classrooms, the computerized classroom, chemistry/biology laboratories for teaching and research and the Interdepartmental Centre for Applied Studies for Sustainable Mountain Management and Protection (GeSDiMont).
The latter has the purpose of promoting, coordinating and developing scientific and applied research on mountain areas as a whole, with a focus on agri-forestry and environmental issues, in close contact with mountain communities. This cultural and scientific centre aims to train Italian and international technicians and researchers with mountain-specific skills, through curricular courses, seminars, conferences, research, hospitality and exchange programmes.
The computerized classroom is used for lectures, exams, exercises, entrance exams, internal and ministerial competitive exams that require IT support and are equipped with new generation IT tools and specialised software.
The centre hosts a teaching laboratory and a research laboratory equipped with workbenches and numerous stations with fume extraction systems that are suitable for carrying out educational experiments.
The laboratories are equipped with the following:
- analytical balance,
- technical scale,
- magnetic stirrer,
- rotary evaporator,
- microscopes,
- stereo microscopes,
- motion sieve,
- distillation unit,
- Phmeter,
- centrifuge,
- double beam spectrophotometer,
- refrigerator and incubator.
